Meet Jon Cook
I’m Jon Cook, founder and lead consultant at Pier Consultancy. I’ve spent the majority of my career in consultancy roles—sometimes as a financial systems/ERP/software implementer, other times taking on traditional contracting assignments across various industries. I especially love finance and payroll, but every business has its own unique challenges, and I thrive on getting “under the bonnet” of a problem.
- A Problem-Solving Passion: I’m motivated by that “wow” moment—when a change we introduce suddenly makes your daily work smoother or helps your team feel more confident in their tasks.
- SQL Specialist: One of my proudest achievements involved writing a payroll pre-processor SQL stored procedure that handled over £1m in payroll data daily—ensuring the finance team could spend their mornings validating figures, not crunching them.
- Community-Driven: Since 2010, I’ve run a local news site called alittlebitofstone.com for my hometown of Stone, Staffordshire.
- Adventurous Spirit: I’ve even competed in two Le Mans-style endurance lawn mower racing events—proof that I’m always up for a challenge!
